GSA has announced it will brand its Australian properties under its global student operating brand, “The Student Housing Company”.
The Student Housing Company, launched in 2011, has over 8,000 purpose-built student beds across twelve cities in the UK. The Student Housing Company has won the UK’s The Best Private Halls Provider for the past three years in a row.
In September 2016, The Student Housing Company became part of the GSA family, alongside their European and Asian brand, Uninest Student Residences.
The first property to get the The Student Housing Company branding in Australia will be the flagship “University Square” property at Pelham St in Melbourne and to which GSA Coral’s Student Portfolio has exposure. This is a 346-bed purpose-built student accommodation project currently under construction adjacent to the University of Melbourne is scheduled for completion in 2018.
GSA also has a rapidly growing development pipeline to deliver 2,500 new student beds across Australia over the next 2 years, all of which will carry The Student Housing Company name. Future student accommodation sites include GSA’s first site in Perth located on Stirling Street which is under construction; as well as projects across Melbourne on Royal Parade in Parkville, an existing student college residence due for redevelopment and refurbishment; as well as two other projects in Carlton, Melbourne. These sites will also provide valuable investment exposure for the GSA Coral fund.
Simon Loveridge, Managing Director for GSA Asia Pacific, said: “While Australia maintains its reputation of having some of the best academic institutions globally, there will continue to be high demand for well-maintained purpose-built student accommodation from both local and international students”.
“We are excited to launch The Student Housing Company in Australia and it will reflect all of GSA’s evolved design and specification signatures, which include generous communal spaces, bright and welcoming student entrances, high levels of natural light in all rooms, and sector leading technologies.”
