The body responsible for administering the placement of young people into UK university courses, UCAS, has reported the highest ever level of acceptances on A level results day, with 424,000 students having been accepted to UK universities and colleges so far this year. This is a 3% increase in placements over the year before and, combined with the removal of the recruitment cap, indicates that this year’s intake will boost demand for student accommodation across the country. The number of EU students placed has increased to 26,800 (+11%) – the highest number recorded – and international acceptances have stayed around the same level as 2015 (+0.4%) at 29,300.
As students become more aware of the importance of the right course choices, good quality accommodation providing amenities such as high-speed internet and attractive community areas, is a key element in selecting which university they will attend. GSA Coral’s portfolio in the UK, and similarly in international locations, is actively managed to maintain high levels of appeal ultimately optimising attractive returns for fund investors.
